NATURE OF WORK

 

Liquor Store Clerk 2

Assist in the operation and supervision of state-owned Wine and Spirits Stores.  You will be responsible for a shift within a store and, if appropriate, supervision of shift members based upon the size of the workforce.  You may also perform routine non-supervisory duties.

 

Liquor Store Managers

Assist in directing the operation of state-owned Wine and Spirits Stores.  You will be responsible for supervising a shift of Liquor Store Clerks and Cashiers.  You will ensure that store employees render prompt and courteous service to customers and that they accurately maintain detailed cash and stock keeping records.  A Liquor Store Manager's primary responsibility is supervising store activities which include training subordinate store employees.  However, on occasion, you may be required to perform other duties related to receiving, selling and accounting for merchandise.

 

Liquor Store General Managers

Supervise, manage and direct activities in state-owned Wine and Spirits Stores.  You will implement and apply policy and procedure to store operations; assign and evaluate work; and promote good customer relations.  General Managers are accountable for the entire store operation which includes sales, store maintenance, merchandise and cash accounting, maintenance of records and all related functions.

 

The level of Manager and/or General Manager positions in particular Wine and Spirits Stores is based on the quantity and variety of merchandise handled, personnel responsibilities, volume of transactions and related matters.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

You will be tested before your qualifications are reviewed.  Your test results will count only if you meet all job requirements.  If after reading the requirements you are not sure you qualify, contact one of the Commission's offices listed at the end of this announcement.

 

You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.

 

You must be a current employee of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board currently working in a lower pay grade than the one for which you apply, and you must have or have held regular or probationary Civil Service status in a liquor store classification.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Liquor Store Clerk 2

One year as a Liquor Store Clerk 1, Liquor Store Wholesale Clerk, Liquor Stock Clerk, Liquor Store Sales Cashier, Intermittent Liquor Store Clerk or Intermittent Liquor Store Sales Cashier.

 

Liquor Store Manager 1

One year as a Liquor Store Clerk 2; OR 2 years as a Liquor Store Clerk 1, Liquor Store Wholesale Clerk, Liquor Stock Clerk, Liquor Store Sales Cashier, Intermittent Liquor Store Clerk or Intermittent Liquor Store Sales Cashier.

 

Liquor Store Manager 2

One year as a Liquor Store Manager 1 or Liquor Store General Manager 1A; OR 2 years as a Liquor Store Clerk 2.

 

Liquor Store Manager 3

One year as a Liquor Store Manager 1, Liquor Store Manager 2, Liquor Store General Manager 1A, or Liquor Store General Manager 1B.

 

Liquor Store General Manager 1A

One year as a Liquor Store Clerk 2; OR 2 years as a Liquor Store Clerk 1, Liquor Store Wholesale Clerk, Liquor Stock Clerk, Liquor Store Sales Cashier, Intermittent Liquor Store Clerk or Intermittent Liquor Store Sales Cashier.

 

Liquor Store General Manager 1B

One year as a Liquor Store Manager 1 or Liquor Store General Manager 1A; OR 2 years as a Liquor Store Clerk 2.

 

Liquor Store General Manager 2 Supervisory

One year as a Liquor Store Manager 1, Liquor Store Manager 2, Liquor Store General Manager 1A or Liquor Store General Manager 1B.

 

Liquor Store General Manager 2 Management

One year as a Liquor Store General Manager 2 Supervisory, Liquor Store General Manager 1B, Liquor Store Manager 3, or Liquor Store Manager 2; OR 2 years as a Liquor Store General Manager 1A or Liquor Store Manager 1.

 

For all job titles:  Equivalent combinations of experience and training are acceptable.

 

EVALUATION POLICY

Experience gained in temporary assignments (working out-of-class) for which you have been paid is applicable toward meeting these requirements.  The out-of-class equivalency is 1950 hours = 1 year.

TESTING

 

This test will be administered on a computer.  Information about computerized testing is available online at www.scsc.state.pa.us OR in paper form at any State Civil Service Commission office.  You will have a maximum of 2 1/2 hours to complete the test.
